The Founder's Story — A Letter from the Creator

Dear Fellow Foot-Pain Survivor,

I live with Chronic Daily Persistent Headaches — a condition where severe headaches are present 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without pause. Several years ago, I visited a foot surgeon to correct hammer toes and bunions caused by bones grinding against one another. The surgeon recommended operating on nine of my ten toes. The operation itself went well — but what came next changed my life forever.

Almost immediately after surgery, I developed extraordinarily painful shooting, stabbing, and pins-and-needles sensations covering the entire surface of both feet — from above my ankles to the soles. I described the pain to my surgeon precisely: my toes felt wrapped and bound tightly, as if sandpaper were between them; I had painful tingling, shooting, and stabbing in both feet; I had unbearable sensitivity to any pressure along the bottoms of my feet; and I began experiencing random stabbing pain extending up into my calves. The pain persisted around the clock — especially agonizing in the mornings, sometimes jolting me awake.

Through consultations with additional physicians and specialists, I was ultimately diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) — a form of foot neuropathy that has no cure. My doctor recommended a spinal cord neurostimulator implant to intercept pain signals before they reach my feet. Today I carry a rechargeable battery in my lower back that requires roughly 45 minutes of recharging every other day. And every five years or so, I will need surgery again to replace the device.

Nobody told me this could happen — and that is exactly why I am telling you.

Physical therapy helped — but at $150 per session, I could not afford three sessions a day, seven days a week. My insurance? Twenty sessions a year, dispensed three to five at a time, followed by a two-week wait before the next round. That is health care. Or, more accurately, health rationing.

The People Who Made This Personal

I was very close to my grandfather, Barney Benjamin. He was a tough old coot who drank whiskey and smoked a cigar every day of his life. His voice sounded like gravel, and he stuttered — one of the reasons he was targeted for beatings when he was in the British navy. One of his eyes became crossed as a result. But his grip was like iron. He would shake my hand and squeeze every time we got together, and that is how I knew he loved me. He was barrel-chested, optimistic, supportive, kind, and loving. The characteristics I work to emulate every day.

He fell in his condo in Florida and broke his hip. He spent his last days in a hospital where he contracted pneumonia. I arrived in South Florida well after visiting hours, but the nurses let us in. I sat by my grandfather and held his hand. He was unconscious, but his grip was as firm as ever. I talked to him like I always did — and told him how much he meant to me and how remarkable a man he was. He had survived the loss of his wife, then the death of my father, step-mother, and little sister in a plane crash. He was always my pillar of strength. He passed away that night at 2 a.m. It was Christmas Eve.

Years later, I was visiting my mother, Dolly, in Florida. It was the day before my wife Alice and I were to fly back to New York when I heard a thump from the next room. I rushed to her bedroom to find her slumped on the floor — in pain, conscious, unable to move her leg. I called an ambulance and my brother. Everyone said how fortunate she was to have me there, otherwise she would have spent god knows how long stranded on the floor, unable to reach a phone.

She spent six months "recovering" from a broken hip — and it killed her. Her zest for life, the 90-minute phone calls we enjoyed several times a month, were all gone. Her quality of life was destroyed, and so was her will to live. She passed away a shadow of herself. Mom, I miss you still and love you for bringing joy, conversation, and light into my life.

All of that led me here — to MassageMate24™. As the founder of several nonprofit organizations, I spend my days developing solutions to problems that diminish people's quality of life. When I turned that focus on my own condition, I realized I needed more comfort and relaxation throughout the day — available on my terms, without an appointment.

So I researched, consulted, designed, prototyped, and tested — until I arrived at what you now hold in your hands. My goal was simple: bring massage into people's homes, available any time they need it. We want to be completely honest with you: bringing MassageMate24™ from idea to your hands was not a straight line. It was a process of rigorous iteration, hard lessons, and deliberate decisions — and we believe that transparency about that journey is exactly what you deserve. The hard work is already behind us.

The two most technically demanding milestones in bringing this physical product to market — the precision CAD engineering and the injection mold manufacturing — are complete. We did not take shortcuts to get there. On the engineering side, we went through four separate CAD developers before finding one who could execute the technical specifications MassageMate24™ required. The geometry of 400+ therapeutic nubs, the precise flex characteristics of food-grade silicone, and the fit tolerances that allow the device to work across a range of foot sizes demanded a level of technical competence that the first three developers simply could not deliver. We refused to compromise the design to fit a developer's limitations. We found the right team and got it right.

On manufacturing, we researched and evaluated 18 injection mold companies before selecting our manufacturer. Eighteen. We were looking for a specific combination: demonstrated expertise in food-grade silicone production, a track record of quality at scale, FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 compliance capability, and a commitment to the material integrity our device requires. Most companies could not meet all of these criteria. Our manufacturer could — and does.

What this means for you is we will not cut corners and when you order we will do our best to ship within the timeframe indicated. Depending on the size of our next order, production scheduling with our manufacturer may require adjustment. We have built buffer time into our delivery estimates to account for this, but if demand significantly exceeds our projections — which we hope it does — we will communicate any timeline shifts immediately and directly. Quality control: every production run will be inspected against our specifications before any unit ships. We will not release product that does not meet our standards. If a production run requires correction, that comes before delivery speed — always.

What will never be a risk: we will not disappear. We will not go silent. Our NPOs, Planned Acts of Kindness and One Planet – One People have been building real programs and real relationships for over a decade. Long-lasting Design

MassageMate24™ was built from the beginning to last. The device is constructed from FDA-certified food-grade silicone (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600) — the same class of material used in baby bottle nipples and medical devices. FDA silicone is slow to degrade and resists UV, ozone, and general aging — key traits for use in demanding environments. Food-grade silicone is engineered to resist tearing, cracking, and aging even with frequent use, and platinum-cured silicone maintains performance over hundreds of uses.

Unlike battery-powered massage devices with motors, circuits, and charging components that fail, MassageMate24™ has zero moving parts and zero electronics. There is nothing to break down mechanically. The 400+ nubs maintain their shape and pressure response through month over month of regular use. The device is hand-washable with soap and water, requires no maintenance, and comes with a 12-month replacement warranty — but the realistic product life extends well beyond that.

The environmental implication is significant: silicone's longevity reduces the need for frequent replacements, making silicone products particularly eco-friendly when they replace disposable or short-lifespan items. A single MassageMate24™ replaces what would otherwise be repeated purchases of inferior, shorter-lived alternatives. Shrink That Footprint.

Reusability and Recyclability

MassageMate24™ is designed to be used indefinitely, not discarded. It is a single-material food-grade silicone product with no mixed materials, metal inserts, or plastic components — which is precisely the profile that recycling programs require. Silicone can be recycled multiple times without losing much of its structural integrity, and when properly recycled through a take-back program, silicone can be downcycled into industrial lubricants, playground mulch, or other secondary products.

We are committed to establishing a take-back recycling program for end-of-life MassageMate24™ devices, modeled on programs like those run by Stasher and other silicone product companies in partnership with TerraCycle. We intend to offer the same pathway for our customers — a return label for devices that have genuinely reached end of life, keeping them out of landfills entirely. Our packaging will be 100% recyclable — FSC-certified recycled cardboard, no plastic inserts, no styrofoam, no laminated coatings that contaminate recycling streams. All printing will use soy-based or water-based inks.

Environmentally Friendly Factories

As a nonprofit organization whose mission is built on the principle that environmental stewardship and human welfare are inseparable, One Planet – One People holds its manufacturing partners to standards that reflect that mission. Environmental certification: We prioritize manufacturers holding ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification. For a food-grade silicone wellness device, we also require compliance with ISO 13485 quality management standards for medical device-adjacent manufacturing.

Material integrity: We require full supply chain transparency and documented material certificates for all silicone inputs, verifying that production uses only BPA-free, phthalate-free, latex-free, hypoallergenic food-grade silicone. No harmful fillers, no undisclosed additives. Labor and human rights: Consistent with One Planet – One People's commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals — specifically SDG 8 (Decent Work) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) — we will not partner with factories that cannot demonstrate safe working conditions, fair wages, and no use of forced or child labor.

Waste and energy practices: We will ask manufacturers to document their production waste rates, water usage, VOC emissions from molding processes, and energy sources. We prefer factories with active energy reduction programs or renewable energy commitments.

Sustainable Distribution

Sustainability in distribution is an area where we can take concrete, measurable steps from day one. Right-sized, waste-free packaging: Every MassageMate24™ ships in the smallest package that safely accommodates the product — no oversized boxes, no void-fill plastic peanuts, no unnecessary interior packaging. Interior protection, where needed, will use recycled kraft paper or corrugated cardboard inserts, not single-use plastic.

Carbon-neutral shipping carriers: We will utilize carrier programs specifically designed to offset shipping emissions. UPS Carbon Neutral offsets greenhouse gas emissions from shipping by investing in verified carbon standard offsets and renewable energy credits, while USPS Blue Earth focuses on sustainability through energy-efficient operations, waste reduction, and the use of alternative fuel vehicles.

Batch fulfillment for institutional orders: Physical therapy clinics, sports teams, and bulk buyers will receive consolidated shipments rather than individual unit shipping, dramatically reducing per-unit packaging and transport emissions. Mission alignment: Every device sold is not only a sustainable product — it is an act of funding the very mission of planetary stewardship that guides every decision described above.
